***Exotic Snakewood*** also known as Letterwood, or Leopardwood, stands out as one of the most aesthetically unique woods in the world. It only grows deep within the jungles of Guyana and Suriname, an exotic hardwood prized for its highly figured grain resembling a snake skin pattern.

***REAL Buffalo Horn***  Almost solid black, with a bit of transparency for the classic silver and black look.

***REAL Stag Antler*** We have requested the deer to grow it's antlers in perfect straight lines, but they are stubborn, and do not listen. Nature will have imperfections and a bit of unevenness depending on the piece. 

***REAL Damascus*** Forged from layers of 1095/15N20 with a beautiful tear-drop/raindrop pattern, each blade is unique.

Leaf-Spring opening. Some pieces are quite strong, but some may need to be held firmly to lock. A leaf-spring uses stored potential energy, like a grass-hopper. Kicking against the sturdy ground, it can jump very high.... but kicking in the air, doesn't work too well. This same concept applies... brace the bottom of the handle against your palm with a firm grip. This provides a base for the spring to kick against. 

PRO TIP: Rotate your wrist to a palm-up position, and even a weaker spring will still lock when held properly.

I read other reviews and was prepared to criticize certain points. But as a fixed blade knife maker myself I am impressed and proud of this knife. The fitting of parts is excellent. Almost seamless. Remarkable for a mass produced knife. The Damascus is beautiful and the grind lines on the blade are sharp and clean. I would have liked a bit of color in the buffalo horn, but this looks classy. The blade locks up tight with nearly no flex. Prompted by other reviews, I initially thought there might be an alignment problem with the blade and spine of the handle. But putting a straight edge on the back of the open knife, I cannot detect any misalignment. The opening is not as snappy as another switchblade I have with a coil spring, but once I realized it simply should be held firmly so the spring is working against resistance, there is no problem. In fact now it’s been oiled and allowed to ‘work in’ by use, it is opening perfectly when just pinching it between two fingers only. I’m happy. Oh, I should mention it shaves arm hair without pulling.
