"There is a reason why this is called this "theONE", superb quality without breaking the bank!"

    ATTENTION:

The TI handles do fit on the SS version blades from TheONE channel 4x series, but the TI version blade width is slightly larger than the SS version blade width.... meaning that YES they are interchangeable, and you can still flip, but the latch won't close properly if you mix the 2 versions.

    Never Going Back to Stainless!!

I've owned several of "The One" 4X clones over the years, but this is my first with Titanium handles. The difference in weight from the stainless version is immediately apparent. Titanium is about as light as aluminum but is stronger than stainless steel. The precision machining and finish are excellent, as usual for "The One". I'm a big fan of pivot pin bushings. They allow you to lock the pins down tight to reduce lateral handle movement and prevent blade slap, while the handles still swing free and smooth. $139 is, I think, a good price for this well made titanium handle balisong! I've seen sellers asking $200 for 4X Titanium handles alone. And, Jeff at Slas2Gash is great - has always responded when I've had a question.

Blown away out of the box

I just got my 42 clone today and it's by far the best balisong I own. The build quality is easily on par with knives that cost 2 or 3 times as much, and the tune on mine was near perfect. About as little play as you could ask for and absolutely no tap.

The latch doesn't throw off the balance, thanks to it being a spring latch so it doesn't swing around, and also relatively light. That's perfect for me, because I've been looking for a good flipper that I don't have to remove the latch from.

If I have to nitpick one thing, it's that the latch is a very tight fit when the knife is closed, which means it takes quite a lot of force to engage the spring, so it's pretty hard to pop open with one hand. Still manageable though once you get used to it.

Overall, my experience with both the knife and the store have been ace so far, and this will definitely be the first place I look for my balisong clone needs in the future. Also, as someone who's got an almost problematic hoard of knife company stickers, S2G has some of the best.

The One Benchmade Model 42 clone

Very impressive quality at a very reasonable price. Really just as good as the original, though I'm sure there are those who are already thinking, "Well, AAAAAC-tually...". Just stop it. Nobody cares. I have a lot of high end expensive knives, and I'm a gunsmith and machinist. These are good. Benchmade prices were completely unreasonable, their customer service was snippy when I dealt with them, and they've dropped this line anyway. But I never got one because they were just too much for what they were. Anyway, sweet deal. Came extremely sharp out of the box too. Usually I have to redo the edge of everything. Not in this case. Unless you want a more aggressive edge. The edge on this feels and cuts like it's been stropped. If you like that, it's perfect. If you desire more "grab" to your edge for more aggressive cutting power, as I sometimes do, a Norton Medium grit stone will give you exactly what you want. I'm not a balisong flipper. I don't do tricks. I use them for utility purposes like any other knife, and these do nicely. I immediately ordered the dagger style blade with steel handles after receiving this just for some variety. My only criticism is very minor. The inner corner of the latch is sharp. But a few minutes worth of work on the lathe after setting it up in a collet easily fixed this with a small radius added.

Works in my original 42 AS.

I have an old first production run BM42AS that over the years got sharpened to oblivion. When I contacted Benchmade they told me they no longer keep blades for these because they are discontinued. Not very “lifetime” of them but so be it. It’s sat in a drawer for the last decade while I tried every clone blade I could to replace the factory blade. These worked great. Need to order more for the future.
