More Creative Homage than Clone

My THEONE CHANNEL REP BUTTERFLY KNIFE TITANIUM BALISONG (CLONE) - SQUIGGLE, (yeah, I copied and pasted that) just arrived in the mailbox today. I'm not sure it's really a clone. Don't get me wrong, the blade itself is a spot-on copy of the BRS Replicant trainer blade (so is the extra live replacement blade that I ordered) but any resemblance stops there. There are no zen pins or tang pins. BRS doesn't make a pinless design. I think the floating washer system is also unlike the inspiration. The solid channel handles are unlike anything I've been able to reference from BRS. At 140 grams with the trainer blade, it weighs 26 grams less than my Squid Industries Krake Raken with a tanto live blade. I have no way to determine what the raw materials are made of, but a Google search tells me that titanium is 2/3 heavier than aluminum so...maybe! Out of the bag, it was a little stiff. It didn't come in a box. It arrived 4 days after I ordered it, in a sheath, with extra hardware, an invoice, a business card, and two stickers, in a padded plastic mailer bag. After a few minutes of beginner quality flipping, the handles were swinging freely and tolerances remained good. The handle faces, front and back are nicely textured, but the sandblasted sides may be challenging later on, when I get around to learning ladders and inverted fans. It's the heaviest "flipper" I own, since the 2 ten year old Bradleys I never really felt comfortable flipping weigh 12-14 grams more, so I'll get used to it. So far, momentum carries really well on chaplins and rollovers. I've yet to flip any actual BRS products. The reviews I've watched for actual CHABs say they're on the heavier side too. All things considered, I'd say this is more of an Homage than a clone. I Like It. I'm glad to have it.

Thank you so much for the detailed review, we greatly appreciate the time you spent to help others!
